Recently, Thomas Whelihan from The Whelihan Law Firm, LLC located in Haddonfield, NJ, reached out to us for some headshot photography. He stopped by our studio on a Tuesday morning for his photo session, and I enjoyed photographing him quite a bit. Tom had a strong, firm demeanor in front of the lens, but the cool thing was that he also held a great conversation. We instantly hit it off talking about the fact that we both used to work for very large organizations. In his case, he described his experiences working with some of the larger law firms, and I related with my experience working for the Dept. of Defense.

Part of the great thing about being a photographer is getting the opportunity to work with a large variety of individuals and different personalities. Tom was a nice guy, and I was happy to have the chance to work with him and get him some great photographs. Here’s some of what we got!

Edgewater Park, NJ Real Estate Photography Session

A few weeks ago, I did a real estate photography session on a nice 4 bedroom colonial home over in Edgewater Park, NJ. It was one of those days when the sun was drifting in and out from behind the clouds (not my favorite… I prefer the bright blue skies), but it was still really nice out… I’m pretty sure it was actually one of the first days where it was warm this year. We’ve definitely had a chilly spring!

The house was actually pretty cool, with a screened in patio out back, and a nice kitchen. Here’s some of my favorite shots from the photo session!

Lauren P. – NJ Headshot Photography Session

You may remember Kristy from our headshot photography session a few weeks back. Both Kristy, and her friend Lauren, stopped by the studio together for their headshot sessions. The needed photos for their applications for the NY Jets cheerleading tryouts and knew it would be a good idea to have solid professional photos on their applications. When we talked, both explained that applicants typically attach a photo to their submission so the judges will remember them later when making decisions. Lauren and Kristy wanted photos that would stand out, look great, and make a good impression.

They laughed as they told me about how they had initially tried to do a “photo shoot” at the beach nearby where they lived, bringing along a friend and a point-and-shoot camera. Lauren & Kristy both joked about the experience and mentioned that they were sure the professional photos would come out much better!

Our photo session was quick and easy, they both had a great time, and I was able to get them some great images! I was happy to be a part of their road to the tryouts, and wished them a bunch of luck! Here’s some of what Lauren and I came up with!

Everyone has that friend or family member who is super photogenic. You know the type. It could be a cousin, sibling, or even a colleague, and they just look great in every picture you see. Their smile, pose, and everything… it just works, and you’re not even sure why!

Kristy – NJ Headshot Photography Session

A few weeks back, two women contacted us about getting some headshots done. They were trying out to be cheerleaders for the NY Jets, and they needed some photos to put with their applications. They laughed and mentioned that they had tried to get some shots on their own, but they just weren’t what they were looking for. Ultimately, they both wound up booking sessions with us to get something great!

Lauren and her friend Kristy popped into our studio one afternoon, and they were really great to work with. They were a lot of fun, and & had great personalities. Both of them were in phenomenal shape… but I guess that’s part of the deal if you’re a cheerleader! Kristy was up for photos first, so here’s some of what we came up with!

In Your Town! – Genie Lighting – Medford, NJ Lighting

Genie Lighting is a really unique local business located at 56 North Main St., Medford, NJ 08055 in the heart of Historic Medford Village. I’ve been driving by their gorgeous Victorian facade for years, and often thought of popping in, lured by the array of stunning lighting fixtures decorating their front porch. How could this place not be cool?

While I’ve been interested in stopping by for a few years, Genie Lighting has been a family-owned business for quite some time. Owned and founded by Lloyd Williams and the Williams family, Genie Lighting has been providing, producing and servicing lighting fixtures in Medford since 1967! While I enjoyed my visit & had the opportunity to photograph some really unique displays, what I saw is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Genie Lighting’s offerings.

The showroom at Genie Lighting is spacious, bright, and packed with amazing lighting fixtures, from lamps to chandeliers. If I tried, I wouldn’t even begin to be able to describe some of the cool fixtures I saw. My description just wouldn’t do the shop justice, but I’m sure that Molly, the showroom manager, would be very happy to give you a tour! When I first stopped in, Molly greeted me with a warm welcome, was kind enough to give me a terrific tour, and even sat down with me for a nice chat. She’s super friendly and knows a bunch about the business.

Some awesome copper lanterns occupy a special section in the back of the showroom. When Lloyd and his family founded Genie Lighting in the late 1960′s, they began to produce copper lanterns. Today, they supply lighting distributors throughout the United States. It was neat to take a peak into the workshop located on the premises and take a look at Lloyd doing what he does best!

An endless variety of chandeliers, sconces, and even lamp shades are just part of what they have available. Molly explained to me that they do repairs and have access to specialty items of all kinds. During my visit, a number of customers came in with specific needs, and the staff was quick to get them set up with exactly what they needed. Molly explained that they have a large network of lightings specialists with whom they can get into contact for just about anything. If they don’t offer something, they can likely point you in the right direction!

While the large selection of the bigger products was alluring, it was really the smaller details that tied things together and made the shop so inviting. There were fragrant candles, custom small finials, and even some really creative, decorative lamps.

Oh, I can’t help it… I have to admit that I got a bit over-zealous photographing the turtle lamps… most of them were Tiffany lamps. C’mon… they’re pretty cool!

Laura – NJ Corporate Portraits / Headshots

Laura is a friend of mine, and she’s super ambitious. Not only does she work as a settlement coordinator and real estate agent based in Cherry Hill, NJ, but she is also a graduate student at Temple University. In addition, she’s always kind enough to reach out to us for some professional photos of her listings. With so much going on, she decided to give me a ring and get some updated headshots.

It was great to see Laura, and we had a really good time at her photo session. She has a gorgeous smile and a terrific personality. It also doesn’t hurt that she’s very photogenic! Here’s some of the photos from our session!

Getting Sworn In! – Ocean County Courthouse

Recently, we had a really unique opportunity to photograph a very special occasion… one that not everyone gets to see, let alone photograph! A friend of mine told me about her husband being sworn in as a judge in the Ocean County Courthouse in Ocean County, NJ, and she asked if we might be available to do photography for the ceremony. Absolutely! We were super happy to be able to capture the judge’s investiture ceremony, and it was an honor to be asked.

While it was definitely one of the more challenging ceremonies to photograph, she was super happy with the images we were able to come up with to memorialize the occasion! She mentioned that she and her family were amazed that we had not only captured moments, but we had caught ones with so much expression and emotion. I’m so glad we were able to do the event justice, and all the best to the newly sworn in judge! Here’s some of the shots from the ceremony & reception!

In Your Town! – Main Street Cigars – Medford, NJ Cigars

Main Street Cigars is just one of those cool places! Located at 7 South Main St., Medford, NJ 08055, it’s nestled right in the center of Historic Medford Village, and I was certainly glad to have the chance to stop in and say hello. Main Street Cigars is a full service cigar shop, and it features large private and public cigar smoking lounges as well as an assortment of high quality premium cigars at reasonable prices.

Appearances can be deceiving, but upon entering, I realized that this shop was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The shop actually features the largest humidor in South Jersey!

Another thing I quickly noticed when I photographed Main Street Cigars was the sheer variety of premium products they had. I obviously knew there was a huge selection of cigars by just looking around, but I gained an idea of just how great their selection was by hearing the customers popping in and out. Upon checking out, a few of the members smiled and remarked to me that this was the only place that carried just what they were looking for. Main Street Cigars are actually the only certified retailer of the exclusive Padron Cigars in South Jersey.

Being a guy, I find this sort of stuff pretty cool, and I can tell you that the smoking lounges were great! They had a really classy feel, and they were super spacious. It would definitely be a very cool place to kick back with some friends for a special occasion (like a bachelor party) or just in general to unwind.

Clad with leather furniture, the lounges are well appointed with large televisions, private humidors, and just about anything else that would make for a great spot to sit back and relax. They offer space for private parties, corporate events as well as bachelor parties.
