Jim – NJ Acting Headshots Session

My friend Jim is an actor & photographer from Philadelphia.  Recently while at a Meetup shooting some photos, Jim mentioned that he was looking to get some new headshots done for his acting portfolio.  He told me about some of the work he was getting and what direction he was looking to take his acting career in, and I told him that I was certain I could get him exactly what he was looking for.  Jim decided he would love to get together and have me do his headshots, and we met up at nearby Laurel Acres Park in Mt. Laurel, NJ to do some themed images outdoors.

I’m always flattered when other photographers feel comfortable having me do photos for them.  While a lot of working pros dread doing shots for other photographers, I don’t mind a bit… I really consider it an honor.  Photographers have the same insecurities as any other person being photographed, but they also tend to really have a vision about what exactly they want.  For me, knowing that they trust me to execute & really nail it is great.

Since Jim is an actor, we were looking for some shots that reveal some of his personality and illustrate some different of the different characters or “looks” he might portray.  He was looking to add some depth to his current portfolio of shots and show a bit of versatility.  Just like corporate headshots or modeling headshots, we obviously wanted to show Jim in the best light possible, but the key here was to really get his personality to show.  In the end, he was super happy with how his shots came out.  Here’s some of what we came up with!
