Location Scouting – South Jersey Senior Portraits

I figured I would post something different today, partly to change things up a bit, and partly because this completely amuses me.  The other day, in between a bunch of recent sessions, Katie & I were kicking around ideas, and we decided that it would be fun to offer portrait packages for high school seniors.  It would give us the opportunity to create some really awesome new portraits with a crowd that we’re certain would really enjoy our style of sessions.

On-Location Portrait Photography

You may have seen the casting calls we put out on social media, and we’ve got a few sessions that we’re pretty excited about in the pipeline.  In the meantime, I figured it would be fun to scout locations for an upcoming promo shoot I’m doing for the senior portrait packages.  I picked a local place that we have used a bunch in the past for various sessions.  I wanted to explore the area a little more, and I asked our 4-year-old daughter if she would pose for pictures while we were there.  (Yes, of course I bribed her, and no, she obviously wasn’t going to cooperate!)

Portraits with Personality

My ulterior motive is that we honestly haven’t been taking as many pictures of our kids as we would like lately.  I thought it would be fun to get some shots of our daughters, knowing neither of them has any patience for us having a camera on hand.  I usually leave the kid pictures to my wife, a la S18 Newborns, but I thought it might be a nice change of pace to play off of our kid’s personality a bit.

South Jersey Senior Portraits

Our adventure was a success, and we’re pretty excited about offering high school senior portraits (something we’ll be officially rolling out soon).  In the meantime, here’s some shots from our scouting expedition with the kids.  Be sure to send any high school seniors our way if they might be interested in being photographed!

Truthfully, the brick wall from the shots above were something she remembered from previous trips, and the few shots where she was totally happy to cooperate…

Yeah, she really wasn’t thrilled about the shot above.  She was pretty adamant that she wanted to head up the hill and check out the wedding music she was hearing in the distance.  But, come on… how cool is this one!

No, she’s actually not mad at all in this shot, if you can believe it.  Mommy just happened to tell her to “try a serious face,” and this was apparently what serious looks like!

I’ve gotta tip my hat to the kid.  This one was her idea… she really wanted a photo in front of “that cool door over there,” and undoubtedly enjoyed me crawling around to get the low point of view.

This was about where the cooperation stalled, and she was looking for the ice pop she was promised…

Yes, even our littlest one got in on the action.  Here she is hanging out.  Plopping that brick down in front of her was the only way to keep her from crawling away!
